The Mind Body Birth Connection
We will explore the powerful interdependent relationship between the mind and body in birth and why a sense of safety and calm is imperative for women and birthing people for an optimal experience psychologically and physically.
Supporting the Mind Body Birth Connection
As caregivers we are in a unique position to be able to support and optimise the mind-body-birth connection for the families in our care. Throughout the workshop we will explore how best to achieve this by looking at effective strategies to help us provide a safe and calm emotional and physical environment for our birthing families. In doing this we will also discuss strategies to help us work with our own mind-body connection, building our resilience and capacity to provide the care we wish to.
Recent participants say:
“It reminded me how vital it is to create safe, undisturbed environments.”
“It helped me better support women to return to their parasympathetic nervous system during labour.”
The Calmbirth Mind-Body-Birth Connection workshops for Caregivers and Allied Health are facilitated by the Director of Calmbirth, Karen McClay.

1 day Mind Body Birth Connection Workshops:
“Previous research has demonstrated a woman’s self-efficacy and personalised decision making can be augmented when care providers and birth partners understand a woman’s unique coping behaviours and strategies.”
(Warriner et al.2018.)
This workshop is not just professional development—it’s personal transformation.
Birth is a natural and normal part of life and when undisturbed can be experienced instinctively and with innate intuition.
“As caregivers, it is vital for us to understand this concept and powerful interaction of the mind and body, so that we can facilitate better and more positive birth outcomes, not just physically but also emotionally for the families we care for.” – Calmbirth Director, Karen McClay
